Reliable and Secure Short-Packet Communications

Exploiting short packets for communications is one of the key technologies realizing emerging application scenarios such as massive machine type (mMTC) and ultra-reliable low-latency (uRLLC). In this paper, we investigate short-packet to provide both reliability security guarantees simultaneously with an eavesdropper. particular, outage probability considering secrecy defined according characteristics transmission, while effective throughput in sense established performance metric. Specifically, a general analytical framework proposed approximate throughput. Furthermore, closed-form expressions these quantities are derived high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime. Both obtained via high-SNR approximation maximized under outage-probability constraint by searching optimal blocklength. Numerical results verify feasibility accuracy framework, illustrate influence main system parameters on blocklength constraint.
